Module 04 - Costing and billing

What the job cost, and what to invoice for it.

Manufacturing denominated in money, not a general ledger. DKayMRP computes what a build actually cost and raises the invoices the build triggers, then hands the finished figures to the accounting system you already use.

01Job costing

Cost that comes from the movements

Material consumed and labour booked are already recorded as events against the order, so cost is derived from them rather than estimated alongside them. No external system can compute this, because no external system sees the issue and the labour entry.

  • Cost per order, per operation
  • Materials at the valuation you choose
  • Labour at the rate that applied then
  • Estimate against actual, side by side

02Valuation

Knowing what the half-built thing is worth

Work in progress is a real number for a manufacturer with orders on the floor at year end. It is computed from the same ledger, so the figure in the report is the figure the movements support.

  • Work in progress valuation
  • Stock valuation on the same basis
  • Variance visible, not buried
  • Point-in-time reporting

03Billing

Invoices the build actually triggers

Deposits at order, progress billing at milestones, the final invoice at delivery. These triggers come from the production plan, which is why they belong here rather than in a finance package that cannot see a work order.

  • Deposits and progress billing
  • Milestone-triggered invoices
  • Vendor bills from the matched invoice
  • Payments recorded against documents

04The export seam

Your accountant keeps their system

DKayMRP deliberately stops short of a general ledger, tax filing, bank reconciliation and payroll. Those are solved problems with incumbents your accountant already knows, so the finished figures export to them instead of being rebuilt badly.

  • Export to Xero or QuickBooks
  • No second chart of accounts to maintain
  • No general ledger to migrate onto
  • Multi-currency on documents

From the floor to the invoice

01

Cost accrues

Every material issue and labour booking adds to the cost of the order as it happens, not in a month-end exercise.

02

Milestones land

The production plan reaches a billing point and the invoice it triggers is raised against the order.

03

Bills are matched

Vendor invoices clear the three-way match before they become payable, so nothing unverified reaches the ledger.

04

Figures export

The finished numbers go to your accounting system. No parallel books, no double entry by hand.
